A Fearless Voice

written for Sadje’s What Do You See? picture prompt.

You may have captured my body
But you will never rule my mind

You may have restrained me physically
But you will never rein in my fervor

You may have chained my feet
But you will never confine my optimism

You may have cuffed my hands
But you will never curtail my hopes

You may want to break me down
But you will never crack my spirit

You may view me as submissive
But you will never shatter my resolve

You may release me, or
You may never set me free

You may choose to finish me
But my message will forever live

Because…

I am a fearless voice
A tireless fighter
For freedom
For all
